Fresh Chunky Tomato Sauce Recipe

Updated: Dec 10, 2022

This is a quick vegan tomato sauce made with fresh ingredients.

Some tomato sauce recipes require removing tomato skins and seeds, but I feel that removes valuable nutritional content and flavor. If you prefer a sauce without seeds or skin, you can take the extra time to remove them. You can leave out or substitute ingredients based on preference. However, my youngest daughter thought it was so tasty she ate a bowl full like it was soup. This sauce contains no preservatives and is not intended for canning. To safely can tomato sauce, you would need to add an adequate proportion of lemon juice or citric acid. Fresh ingredients are preferred over canned or dried for a better flavor profile.

This recipe can be used as a sauce for lasagna, casseroles, spaghetti, and other Italian dishes. You can easily add cooked hamburger meat if you wish to have a meat sauce for your meal. If you make any additions or changes to the recipe, the nutrition content will change. You can use Cronometer.com to calculate the nutrition content of your recipe substitutes. This recipe can easily feed 4 to 6 people as a sauce.
